This week in Europe, passage of the controversial Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) came closer to the rocks, with its own rapporteur telling the European Parliament not to pass the treaty.

On Friday 9 March 2012 on a foggy morning in Canberra, the annual ADA copyright forum kicked off at the National Library of Australia. Despite some late arrivals and absent speakers as a result of the foggy conditions, the forum attracted record numbers to participate in panel sessions devoted to the topic, 'Growing the Digital Economy: Copyright Exceptions for the Internet Age.'
On Friday 2 March, the ADA and ALCC co-hosted a private lunch for the IP negotiators during the eleventh round of negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, alongside non-profit NZ advocacy group, NZRise, with presentations from four prominent copyright and economics experts.
